Phoenix-Tatum Ranch > Phoenix-Tatum Ranch Community Info
The community is in the northeast corner of Phoenix, where North Tatum Boulevard and Cave Creek Road meet. Elevation is about 1,800 feet. The small town of Cave Creek, Arizona is just six miles to the north. The Ranch is within the City of Phoenix and the Cave Creek Unified School District, though the mailing addresses are in the Cave Creek Postal system. The Ranch is five miles north of the 101 Freeway, and 35 miles north of Phoenix Sky Harbor airport. The Carefree Highway, the quickest approach to Interstate 17, is three miles north.
The community benefits from the 410-foot wide Cave Creek Road scenic highway corridor that keeps the roadsides in natural desert plants and shrubs. The arterial streets within the Ranch have desert landscaping in their median strips. Land immediately to the north, east and south of the Ranch is occupied with residential lots of one acre or more. Land to the west of the Ranch is State Trust Land, with a portion dedicated as Sonoran Preserve.
One of the great schools in the area, Desert Willows Elementary School, is located right inside the Ranch. A new Phoenix Fire Station is one mile south of the Ranch. The nearest hospital is the Mayo Clinic Hospital, about seven miles south. Two urban parks, owned by the City of Phoenix are found on the south and west edges of the Ranch. One of the other great attractions, centered in the Ranch is the Tatum Ranch Golf Course, a semi-private 18-hole (par 72) golf course, designed by Robert Culp. Considered one of the premier golf clubs in the Southwest, it features gently rolling fairways, strategic bunkering around the greens and breathtaking views of the surrounding High Sonoran Desert. Set within Palo Verde trees and towering saguaro cactus, the challenging layout measures 6,870 yards from the championship tees with a slope rating of 128. Impeccable playing conditions and attentive, personalized service always provide an unforgettable experience for members and their guests. The course also has a clubhouse and a restaurant.
The community has fun each year with events such as a Santa Party for kids and a holiday decoration contest. The home-owners association has active participation at its town hall meetings and in volunteerism for various important causes. Residents enjoy living so close to Phoenix, which is the sixth largest city in the nation and a major tourist destination as well as the business center of Arizona. The city is filled with diversity, culture, sports, outdoor recreation, premier shopping and dining, and some of the most renowned resorts in the world.
